The Heisey Wind Ensemble has announced plans to “give back to
local school music programs” by donating $500 in cash awards
during their 2011-2012 concert season. At each of the band’s four
concerts and the concert of the Heisey Wind Ensemble Big Band a
student ticket will be drawn and a $100 donation will be made to
the band, choir or orchestra of the selected student.
The first drawing was held at the HWE concert held this past
Sunday night at the Reese Center of the Ohio State University
Newark Campus/Central Ohio Technical College. The winning ticket
belonged to Bailey Clark, a trumpet player in the Granville Middle
School band. Bailey’s director, David DeCarlos, is a member of
the Heisey Wind Ensemble as his her private teacher David
Wolford. Following the concert Bailey was personally
congratulated by HWE Music Director Dr. Russel Mikkelson.

The Heisey Wind Ensemble wishes to say THANK YOU to Jack DiIanni, President of Volkwein Music in Pittsburgh, for his support of our group. Jack was very instrumental (pun intended) in helping us get our Ludwig Grand Symphonic Timpani, Deagan orchestra bells, Ross rosewood xylophone, Ross vibraphone, temple blocks and Ross chimes. Jack is a big supporter of adult/community bands and just an all-around "good guy", but then again aren't all drummers!
All of the instruments were purchased with funds from the members of the HWE that have contributed to the Capital Fund Campaign. (see the Patrons page) The bells were a gift of Beth Morris in memory of Paul & Lois Gilbert. The chimes were a gift of Doug & Nancy Moran in honor
of their parents Gail & Ginny Moran and Jim & Sharon Lowe.
